Former reporter has knack for writing Colorado mysteries

It’s undeniable — winter is nearly here, with those long, warm days of summer fun in the mountains fast becoming distant memories.

It’s a good time for settling down in the fast-arriving evening darkness in a warm living room with a good book — better yet, one in which Colorado’s high country is one of the protagonists.

Or you could take things even further and try to get your hands on all four books in the thriller fiction series by Mark Stevens of Denver.

They all feature the Flat Tops Wilderness north of Glenwood Springs and Allison Coil, an intrepid hunting guide who time and again also is pressed into service as an amateur yet capable sleuth for whatever latest mystery Stevens has dreamed up to test her.
